img_55382What a great holiday! Celebrating doughnuts, yum!

Wikipedia tells us that the first Friday of June is National Doughnut Day. In 1938, National Doughnut Day was started as a Salvation Army fundraiser to honor the women of World War I who served doughnuts to the soldiers in France.

Today, some of the doughnut locations here in the US are giving away free doughnuts.

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts is giving away a free doughnut to every customer that visits a participating Krispy Kreme store.

I’ve heard Dunkin’ Donuts is giving away a free doughnut with the purchase of a beverage.

Enjoy!

Today is “Hug Your Cat Day”. If your cat is anything like our cat, that may be tough to do. He’s not much of a hugger, especially hugs from our 5-year-old.

When was the last time you took pictures of your cat (or dog or bird or fish or whatever)? They are part of the family, too. Don’t forget to include them in your photo albums, scrapbooks and stories.

sweet teaSince moving to North Carolina two years ago, my favorite beverage has been sweet tea. Whenever we would go out I would order sweet tea. Who knew every restaurant in the South had sweet tea? Then I learned how to make it! Yum! But I had to stop, my daily dose of sugar was getting out of control :) . So now I only drink it when we go out, and, I’ve discovered, each restaurant makes it a little different. My favorite? Chick-Fil-A.

What is your favorite iced tea? Sweet? Unsweetened? Flavored?

Here are some recipe links to get you started making your own iced tea.

I made this album for a friend’s bridal shower. She made the most unique wedding invitations and when I saw it I knew I had to make a mini album out of it for her. She is a designer with a love of fabric. Check out her etsy site to see one of her unique creations.

The cover of the album is her invitation (I added the diecut “Mr & Mrs”).

I just finished an album for a client, my sister-in-law. It’s a summary of their life: childhood, family, activities, how they met, their engagement, their wedding and I even included a mother/daughter and father/son page. It was a lot of fun to make.

Easter is coming up this weekend. What moments do you want to remember?

copy-of-img_0752 img_6210 img_6232

  • Easter egg hunts
  • Easter dresses/outfits (and don’t forget those cute shoes!)
  • Easter baskets
  • chocolate covered faces
  • talking to the Easter Bunny
  • coloring Easter eggs
  • Easter dinner
  • Easter projects your children bring home from school or church
  • Family traditions

Take pictures. Write down your thoughts. Capture your children’s words.

I made this album for a girl at church, Erica, who is getting married this summer. She recently moved away and I wanted to thank her for helping me design my logo.

Most supplies from Club Scrap‘s “Kit for a Cause”.

I love this type of album. It has so many spots for pictures and journaling. Do you want to make one for yourself? Check out this tutorial:

I’ve finally finished this mini album. It’s about one of our trips to Carolina Beach. Word books are so much fun to play with.
